The Partners

Michael Radcliffe - born in the Isle of Man in 1949, educated on the Island and at Liverpool University. Michael started his career in W H Walker & Co Chartered Accountants where he specialised in off shore tax companies. After taking a short break to professionally pursue a career in music he joined the Nationwide Building Society in London where he worked in their Treasury Department & Exchange Control Department before moving to Audit Department. Elected as seconded Chairman of the Nationwide Staff Association he was further elected as Vice Chairman of the Federation of Building Society Staff Association.

He formed Network Industrial Relations Services with Frank Needham in 1987 and specialises in employment law and consultancy, health and safety and data protection law. He is an active member of the Mutual Interest Partnership. Michael's hobbies include flying aircraft of all shapes and sizes and amateur radio.  

 

Frank Needham - born in North Wales in 1948. After obtaining a BSc in Economics at the University of Wales, Frank was employed as a manager in the building society sector for over 12 years. He became General Secretary of the in house union at National & Provincial (NAPSA) from 1984 to 1997. During that time, Frank was chair of the Federation of Building Society Staff Associations and subsequently Vice Chair of the Financial Services Staff Federation.

Since 1987 Frank has been a Partner and subsequently a Director of Network. From 1997 to 2008 he also worked for the finance section of the union Unite and its predecessors, responsible for the union’s building society members and from 2006 for Northern Rock plc. Frank was Chair of the Mutual Interest Partnership from 2000 to 2009 and was Chair of the Alliance for Finance, which represents 15 unions with members in the finance sector, from 2009 to 2011.

Frank's principal areas of interest include training on employment law and practice, communication and negotiating skills, handling redundancies, team building and management development. He has experience in political lobbying and organising campaigns, as well as trade union organisation and recruitment.

 

 

Margaret Charters - born in Staffordshire in 1950, educated in local schools up to A-levels. Margaret started her career with Martins Bank, which ultimately became Barclays. She stayed with Barclays for three years as a Chief Cashier before moving to Leicester Building Society, where she held various roles. She left the Leicester in 1975 to bring up her two sons. 

She joined Network in April 1987 and became a partner in 1995, responsible for the administration side of the business. She also gives support to the Mutual Interest Campaign. Margaret’s hobbies include singing, theatre, yoga and line dancing.
